Being Nice, the French Riviera way!

Having been to Nice before, I wanted this trip to be more about spending quality time in old town and the promenade. That’s what I ended up doing rather than visiting the touristy stuff.

Walking through “Vieux Nice” (old town) on a super hot sunny day doesn’t even make you feel that it’s 90 degrees because the building on these narrow streets provide the much needed shade and the cool breeze from the Sea makes it soothing. Now I understand why the streets are so narrow and the buildings so close to each other in France.

There are lot of interesting items you can shop for from soaps, hats, jewelry to clothing. I’ve been doing more window shopping than shopping lately, which can be a lot of fun.

On a tiny street, the Indian restaurant had all these colorful umbrellas so I had to take a picture. Reminded me of lyrics to Rihanna’s song, “Under my Umbrella! Ella! Ella!,” after few minutes I walk in a store and, guess which song is playing, …. yep, couldn’t stop laughing. On second thought, “raining men,” would have been a better manifestation. Lol.

Under my Umbrella Ella Ella…

The best savory crèpe I had. It’s a small crèperie near 15 Rue Gioffredo. I forget it’s name. When I told the chef, “Danke, Sehr gut!” he seemed confused until I realized I was in France and not in Germany, I quickly said Merci, Crèpe Bon, in my broken French. My poor mind is all jumbled up between Danke, Merci and Thank You.

Watching artist at work and wandering through endless art galleries is becoming my favorite pastime.

Promenade Des Anglais is where I ended up to watch the sunset before heading to my tiny home. It was so cool watching friends having picnic and some hot shirtless men playing volleyball while I savored every bit of my dark chocolate 🍫 with hazelnut bar.
