Drink, Pray, Beach in Montpellier

My friend, Tiffany, had plans to go to the beach with her friend on Sunday. She asked me if I wanted to join. I had two options, either I could spend the day in the city exploring or chill at the beach with my new friends. I, of course, opted for quality friendship time.

The night before I was out with them for dinner, drinks and dancing. We had the best selection of wines and cheeses, thanks to Tiffany’s sommelier friend. Dancing at a Mexican restaurant bar was a lot of fun. It was tiny and people rubbing shoulders with each other. We had couple of shots before they stopped serving alcohol at 1am. After 1am, the party moves outside the bar. Most of the people were in their early 20s. Those are the years to get wasted on cheap alcohol.

By the time I got back to my flat, it was nearly 1:30am. Sadly, I woke up at 7:30am. I couldn’t sleep so I went to the Promenade du Peyrou for some Yoga time. The Château d’eau overlooking the aqueducts was the perfect setting to meditate, stretch and get grounded.

I was supposed to meet Tiffany at 11am, which gave me enough time to get ready and make a quick stop again at the Peyrou to checkout the flea market. It surely has beautiful pieces I would have loved to shop, only if I had some space in my luggage or If I actually lived in France.

I criss crossed the side streets and got to her apartment. From there, we walked outside the city center where she had parked her car. She was not 100% sure which street her car would be on, so we walked few streets and “Voila,” we found her. Next stop was to pick up her friend and then head to the beach.

Instead of going to the public beach area, we decided to go to the private beach resort, Carré Mer Plage, so we can be spoiled rotten. Since I get sunburnt in an instant inspite of bathing myself in sunscreen, the hunky and hot waiters, made sure that the beach umbrella covered me completely and would come frequently to change direction with the movement of the sun. We ordered champagne, tapas, mojito and dessert. Everything was just amazing. I was exhausted from being out late night so it was a perfect excuse to take a nap.

The resort was beautifully decorated so we had to take some fun pictures 🙂

After a fun day at the beach, we headed back to the city. I was super hungry so we stopped to have savory pancakes. It was time for me to bid them farewell as I was heading to Marseille the next day. Montpellier would have not been the same if I would have not met Tiffany. She is a true gem and fun to hangout with. She showed me the true non-touristy side of Montpellier. I am truly grateful 😘
