The advantage of staying in Vienna is that you can easily explore nearby countries. Since Bratislava, Slovakia is just a 45 minutes bus ride from Wien for €10 round trip, there is no way I would not go there. Also, on a public holiday in Austria when everything is deserted, going to Bratislava, is definitely a good excuse.
Beautiful bus ride through farmlands and windmills.
Hiking up these steps to get to the magnificent Bratislava Hrad (Castle).
Worth the hike to get to the Bratislava Hrad, perched on top of the hill. Beautiful view’s of the old city, Danube River and the new bridge.
Sitting on the steps of the Gardens at Bratislava Hrad and admiring its beauty was a meditative experience in its own accord.
The Old town center is so quaint and charming with lots of shopping and dining options, without the high prices of Wien.
Loved the Street Art Installations and got to checkout the rehearsal for an outdoor fashion show.
Hmm… Is this statue an inspiration for the Handmaids Tale???
Finally, it was time to bid farewell to Bratislava but a visit here is not complete unless I’ve tasted the local dessert, so I headed to Zeppelin, to have the yummy local specialty dessert, Domaći Krémês, with local fruit wine.
On my way to the bus stop, I picked up salad and drink for my ride from the Vegan restaurant in Old Town.
